About Us

Bozeman Mountain Works was founded in 2001 as a manufacturer of custom built 100% Spectra packs for high altitude climbers and long distance hikers. Spectra became scarce, and we hated making packs, so we morphed.

Now our main focus is building ultralight clothing, shelters and sleep systems. We also have a neat range of accessories that we’ve designed over the years.

We work with a lot of fun people to bring our designs to fruition. Not among the least of them are the staff and premium members over at BackpackingLight.com, who do much of our focus group studies, prototyping, and testing. And so, it’s only fair that they get first dibs on all the new stuff.

Our Philosophy

Bozeman Mountain Works was founded on the simple premise that less is better. Our designs attempt to maximize function for as little weight as possible.

We do not offer unconditional warranties. We offer no warranties whatsoever on fabric and materials; we do offer warranty service for manufacturing defects. We’re not interested in reaching the mass market with our gear. We build our gear for the core user interested in pushing the limits of ultralight.
